Browsing youTube for roguelike videos I found this interesting and pretty not well-known roguelike project! Based on the Hokuto No Ken manga, it features special moves, music and special graphics effects, allies, as well as a theme adaptation all fans will love.
Hokuto no Rogue is a roguelike set in the world of Hokuto no Ken. The game is entirely written in Java and powered by GTGE library. It requires Java 5 or higher. The source code will be released under the GNU license.
Part 1 video, featuring a top down 2D view looks pretty nice, the last one implements isometric graphics

this is Zarya and Zolfrik, project leaders of the Hokuto no Rogue Project (which is kindly hosted on the forum of hokutoproject.it)
We wanted to thank you for your kind words and to say also that we are truly honored to have our project mentioned in the temple of the roguelike (we deeply appreciate your work).
Right now, the project is under a lot of refactoring (the change to the isometric view demands it) and we have yet a lot of work to do, especially on the graphical aspect. But we’re looking forward to release a playable demo and, needless to say, when it’ll be ready we’ll let you know immediately.
